George "Poppy" Karalius passed away in 2022. His connections, intelligence and humor still resonate in through us today.
George immigrated in 1950 from Lithuania with his family and settled in Philadelphia. He graduated from Central High School. Shortly there after, he joined the Marines in 1954. After his stints in Paris Island and Camp Lejeune, he moved back to Philadelphia. George attended and graduated from Temple University with the help of the GI bill.
George worked for The city of Philadelphia for over 35 years. His career was highlighted by leading the Mummer's Parade for 10 years. He retired in 1992 as Deputy Commissioner of Recreation Department.
By late 1992, age 55, he embarked on his financial career with New York Life. For nearly 30 years, George helped clients with their transition to retirement.
Rob and Patty enjoyed the privilege of working together with their Dad for 30 years.
His legacy, however, is in the family that he built with 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and of course his wife, Pat who stewards the family today!
